And then you have to stand in front of the camera yourself…
After being a photographer for more than 8 years, it was finally time to let somebody else take a few pictures… And when I look at my folders on my computer, my selfies are pretty outdated!
On instagram I follow many other photographers so my eye had already fallen on a certain style that appealed to me. I contacted Jonne-Fotografie and soon made an appointment.
Together with my son Roan we took our first photo together. Of course I have had Roan in front of my lens many times. But I rarely take pictures myself. Let alone a photo shoot that is all about the two of us…
November 4th it was time. We had to drive a bit but with my car-freak Roan that is no problem. He has known all car brands by heart since he was 2… So he had enough to look at on the highway.
The photolocation was Hatertse and Overhasseltse Vennen*, this is pretty much next to Nijmegen. Incidentally, this is also a beautiful place to walk! We were lucky that the weather was really super nice, tight blue sky and not too cold.
I wanted a photo at high grass and I succeeded:
Jonne took plenty of time for us and we were able to take many beautiful pictures of us together. But I also wanted some pictures of me alone.
Now I really know how everyone feels in front of my camera. Quite uncomfortable… haha!
It was great fun to have done it, and when I look at the pictures I realize I should do this every year. You don’t take pictures like that with your own phone.
And I, as a photographer, seldom pose (nicely) in front of the lens myself. Sometimes you have to leave that to someone else!
